Read the tariff before opening an account
Ask for the current official tariff sheet and read it alongside the account-opening terms. Brokerage is only one possible cost. Statutory levies, exchange charges, taxes, depository-related charges and service-specific fees may also apply, depending on the product and transaction. Avoid relying on a headline price or an old article for the amount you will actually pay. The broker’s current documents are the source for your account.
Check the full cost of an order
Before placing an eligible order, identify the exchange, segment, quantity, price condition and product type. Understand which charges can arise on the buy side, sell side or from a related account service. If a charge is unclear, ask the approved provider for its basis before trading. A local support conversation in Navi Mumbai can help you find the tariff, but it should not replace the written terms.
Separate an order update from a contract note
An order screen can show submitted, pending, partly executed, executed or rejected status. Do not treat a button tap as proof of execution. After a trade, compare the official contract note with your order history, including the security, quantity, price and applicable charges. Keep the contract note and transaction reference rather than relying on a screenshot or verbal confirmation.
Reconcile cash and holdings
Review the broker account ledger for fund movements and the Demat statement for eligible securities holdings. A contract note, ledger and Demat statement describe different parts of the transaction journey, so compare them together when something looks inconsistent. Check official communication channels and take prompt action if you see an unfamiliar order, charge or transfer.
Resolve a discrepancy with a clear record
Write down the date, order or transaction number, the amount in question and the document that appears inconsistent. Contact the broker through its verified support route and retain the complaint acknowledgement. If the matter is not resolved, follow the published grievance and regulatory escalation path. Never send account passwords or one-time codes while seeking help.
